The historic centre of Cordoba was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1994, and is one of the oldest, most extensive and impressive old quarters in the whole of Europe. It extends for over 250 hectares and contains a wealth of artistic riches from Roman, Arab, Christian and Jewish cultures.
As night falls and all the monuments have shut up shop, the streets become a kind of huge open-air museum, steeped in their history, legends, traditions and experiences. Our guides take you on an evening stroll through the most picturesque areas of the old city, and will help you discover the dimly-lit squares, trickling fountains, picturesque window-grilles and lovingly-tended balconies in the most tucked-away recesses of the historic quarter. The narrow, whitewashed alleys will take you back to another era. Without the hustle and bustle of daily life, the city at night reverts to its authentic charm of yesteryear. In the darkness, the whitewashed walls look even whiter, and the narrow streets even narrower. The Jewish
Quarter, the Plaza de la Corredera, the city walls, the Plaza del Potro and the districts of San Francisco and San Basilio have an even greater appeal. You can learn a lot about ancient Cordoba by walking through modern-day Cordoba. Forget about city maps or guide books – relax and let us be your guides.
